NaNoDrawMo 2010 is upon us. Spent a little time tonight getting acquainted with a new “clutch” pencil (see the Art Alternatives Clutch Pencil Set). Not fond of the quality of the graphite that came with it, but I bought some others while I was at the store. Maybe those will be better.
I’m setting some constraints for myself this year, so that the set of drawings that comes out of November can be viewed as a series. Here’s what I’m focusing on:
- 30 minute time limit per drawing
- White 6″ x 9″ drawing paper with approx. a 1″ border all around
- Human figure is the subject matter
I’m going to try to work on some selective emphasis techniques as well as really trying to make page composition a conscious decision this time around. Last year, I used NaNoDrawMo as a crutch for simply getting back into the habit of drawing. While I’m still not drawing as regularly as I’d like, I definitely improved because of last year’s efforts. I’m really looking forward to this month and what comes of it.
